Autumn-Winter 2026/27 Fashion Trends – Colours, Patterns and Fabrics

Burgundy, oxblood, plum, mahogany, espresso and chocolate brown take centre stage in the season's colour palette. These warm and luxurious shades offer a softer alternative to classic black.

For an especially contemporary look, combine different shades and materials from the same colour family – for example, matte wool fabric with glossy satin, soft velvet or a fluffy knit.

Alongside traditional dark shades, electric blue, royal purple, turquoise, peach, soft yellow and bright red move into the spotlight. They are worn both in monochrome outfits and as eye-catching accents against neutral clothing.

Strong colours work especially well on clean-cut coats, blazers, skirts and long dresses. For a more understated result, pair a vibrant shade with navy, grey, brown or cream.

Patchwork garments combine different colours, textures and materials. Alongside classic fabric squares, coats, jackets, trousers and skirts are pieced together using denim, faux leather, faux suede and wool fabrics.

The handcrafted and unique look is also an excellent way to use smaller fabric remnants. In addition to creating an entire garment, patchwork can be used on pockets, sleeves, bags or repaired denim pieces.

Stripes move beyond summer clothing and onto coats, blazers, trousers and knitwear. Fine vertical stripes are especially important, giving suits and outerwear an elegant appearance. Wider and more colourful stripes also make an appearance.

Stripes placed in different directions can be used to emphasise the waist, elongate the silhouette or draw attention to the cut of a garment.

Fabrics with rich woven textures and integrated patterns give garments a luxurious and slightly historical feel. Jacquards and brocades featuring flowers, leaves and ornamental motifs are used for dresses, jackets, waistcoats, coats and skirts.

Decorative fabrics look most contemporary when paired with something simple and everyday – for example, a jacquard waistcoat over knitwear, a floral jacket with jeans or a textured skirt with a plain blouse.

Light, creamy yellow brings warmth to cold-weather outfits while remaining understated enough to be used almost like a neutral.

Butter yellow appears mainly in knitwear, blouses, dresses, blazers and smaller accessories. It pairs beautifully with grey, navy, chocolate brown, burgundy and cream. For a bolder combination, try it with purple, turquoise or bright red.

Lace, tulle, chiffon and organza are no longer reserved for summer or occasionwear. Sheer materials are layered and combined with heavier fabrics, knitwear and outerwear.

A lace blouse can be worn under a blazer or leather jacket, a sheer skirt can be paired with an underskirt, while tulle or organza can add airy volume to blouses and dresses. Delicate lace looks especially interesting when combined with suiting fabric, corduroy, denim or soft knitwear.
