Anyone can make one!
Materials and tools:
- A rope-covered ring
- Binding wire and cutting pliers
- Spruce twigs and pruning shears
- Cones
- A ribbon, preferably with a wire on the edge
Workflow:
- Get everything you need
- A ring of suitable size and wide ribbon with a wired edge from Abakhan. The ring used for this Christmas wreath is 30 cm in diameter.
- An appropriately flexible binding wire with a diameter of 0.65 mm from a building materials or tools store.
- First, prepare the cones. Wrap the wire as invisibly as possible, i.e. around the back of the pine cone between the scales, and secure with a few twists.
- Cut the spruce branches well and clean the lower part, ie the binding area, approx. 4 - 5 cm from the branches. 4 twigs are enough for this wreath.
- Place the branches perpendicular to the ring – 2 by one and 2 by the other. Place cones on the tree branches, as well as parts of the wire with the tail on one side and parts on the other side. Attach a pair of circles to the binding wire.
- Make a ribbon tie at the tie-up spot.
Some tricks:
- If you pick fresh cones from the forest, it takes about a week for them to go “fluffy” in a warm place, such as in a box on top of an oven or near a stove. ATTENTION! Fire safety!
- Cones can also be decorated with spray paint, sparkling crumbs, artificial snow and other means.
- In this piece, the hanging loop for the ring is hidden under the spruce knot, but it can also be left out to hang the wreath.
Crafting is wonderful!
